Reexamining National Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Dear Friends,

I am asking you to reexamine what October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, means to you. This October, I urge all New Hampshire Breast Cancer Coalition advocates, members and supporters to go beyond awareness and get involved in Breast Cancer Deadline 2020.

Last year, the National Breast Cancer Coalition (NBCC) launched Breast Cancer Deadline 2020, an unprecedented call to action to end breast cancer by January 1, 2020. Breast Cancer Deadline 2020 is backed by a plan and a strategy to get there by engaging all stakeholders, including passionate advocates like you.

The National Breast Cancer Coalition works with the scientific community, public policy experts, trained advocates, researchers and Congress at the most fundamental levels where decisions about breast cancer are made. Since its inception in 1991, NBCC has increased funding for breast cancer research eight-fold, designed and passed legislation that guarantees treatment for thousands of US women who otherwise could not afford care, initiated the development of the Department of Defense Breast Cancer Research Program, a model program for our country and the world, and trained hundreds of advocates to participate in research and policy agencies to influence research goals and decision-making.
