NHBCC Support Services FundRequests for Help Continue To Grow
In response to a growing number of inquiries about resources for financial assistance, in 2006 NHBCC launched a program called the Support Services Fund (SSF). NHBCC has recently experienced an increase in applications for financial assistance, reminding us that a breast cancer diagnosis can cause serious financial hardships for some women and families.

What is the NHBCC Support Services Fund?

The NHBCC Support Services Fund is a resource for patients who have exhausted all other options for financial assistance. Funds are available on a case-by-case basis. Virtually any request is considered, but funds are limited. A four-member committee adjudicates and makes a decision on each application.

Who is eligible for the NHBCC Support Services Fund?

Anyone with a diagnosis of breast cancer living in New Hampshire is eligible to apply to the NHBCC Support Services Fund.

How can I access the Support Service Fund?

Patients must access the NHBCC Support Services Fund through their health care provider -- social worker, oncologist, nurse, surgeon -- or through their hospital or clinic Social Services or Financial Department.

What is covered through the Support Services Fund?

The Support Services Fund Committee considers virtually any financial need. Typical requests for help include breast imaging or diagnostic services, cost of treatments (including prescriptions), transportation, childcare, or household expenses.

How can I get more information about the Support Services Fund?

Patients: Ask your provider to contact NHBCC at 1-800-930-8410 to request an application form.

Providers: NHBCC will provide additional information, including the one-page application form and a list of resources for low-income and uninsured patients, by calling 1-800-930-8410.

NHBCC looks forward to working with New Hampshire health care professionals to continue assisting patients in need.
